vFax and HIPAA Compliance

Modified on Thu, Nov 20 at 2:09 PM

Below are guidelines for Lucid Communications eFax/vFax solution to maintain HIPAA compliance.

1) We will issue a complex password and suggest not changing it for a less secure password.

2) Utilizing the LucidOne vFax user's portal to retrieve faxes is considered HIPAA compliant as long as email forwarding options are not used.

3) Faxes should be sent by a single individual to the single intended recipient, not a group fax accessible option.

4) Transport Layer Security (TLS) is used for fax portal transmission and is considered HIPAA compliant for sending or receiving faxes.

Please Note: HIPAA compliance requires policies & procedures be put in place by your company. A technology solution alone is simply not enough. Please consult with your IT company if you have any questions or concerns about HIPAA compliance.
